FROM THE ARTIST:

I was introduced to clay at an early age. My father was a ceramicist, printmaker, builder and teacher. Many of his interests became mine.

My work is about subtle line changes and the interplay between form and volume.

The work is often informed by the firing process whether its creating wide shoulders to collect ash from a wood kiln or slip application on a tight form that ultimately brings movement to the work.

Clay is an intimate material; I try to create intimate objects. I hope the viewer feels the wet clay of the maker in their hands as they grasp the work.

My aesthetic falls somewhere between crude Japanese tea bowls and polished fiberglass boat hulls – resulting in something sensual.
