FROM THE ARTIST:

My inspiration comes through the vigorous exploration of craft. I try to stretch the medium to the fullest expression of what is technically possible. My primary methodology is to hand-build pieces from hand-rolled slabs.

Each piece is a one of a kind individual work of art. All are signed individually named in Roman numerals and catalogued.

All pieces are functional, yet as a function of the medium not ab integral part of the design. The function follows the form.

I see my work as figurative, humanity as vessel. Forms and their design are both feminine and soft, as well as angular and geometric.

I tend to be overly critical of my work. To be so intimately involved with each piece, over time I know even the tiniest of flaws well. Therefore I constantly strive to improve my technique, expand the scope of my ideas and the direction of my work.

In the final phase of creation, the coloring of my work, I love to use bright vibrant color but, I am equally content to explore more subdues finishes or classic black and white.

My desire as an artist is to create beautiful things first, and hope that they bring some joy and inspiration into the world, not try to change the world.

As a visual artist and sculptor, it is my desired goal to convey my thoughts and ideas visually. If my work requires verbal or written explanation then it is, without doubt, a failure. As the saying goes, a picture is worth a thousand words.
